The Community Director for Wood Hall and Wellness Village is a full-time, master degree required, live-in position working jointly with University Housing, Student Health, Counseling Center, and University Recreation. This position manages and oversees a residential area housing 469 undergraduate residence, which includes the Wellness living and learning community known as the Wellness Village. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director for Southeast Campus for University Housing with responsibility to the Wellness Village stakeholders The Wood Wellness Village is an exciting residential Living and Learning Village open to all students committed to living a balanced life. Members of the Village you will enhance their knowledge and self-awareness of personal wellness through interactive programming, personal engagement and interaction with students, faculty and staff members. Specific Responsibilities: Supervision and Training 1. Select, train, supervise and evaluate twelve Resident Advisors (RA) and up to four Wellness Village Mentors 2. Conduct regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with undergraduate student-staff 3. Coordinate and/or present staff development training sessions Advising 1. Serve as the advisor to hall councils 2. Facilitate hall council training and leadership development for students 3. Meet regularly with and advise executive officers/teams 4. Attend and provide guidance during hall council meetings and wellness council meetings and events Community Development and Programming 1. Co-Chair Wellness Advisory Committee 2. Assist with the development of programming and special events to support the learning outcomes of the community and the Village 3. Assist with the development of programming opportunity for returning Village participants. 4. Create opportunities for collaboration between Wellness Village stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students and alumni 5. Maintain a high level of visibility and develop positive working relationships with residents of the community 6. Assist in the administering or developing of Wellness Village assessment efforts Community Accountability and Policy Enforcement 1. Hold residents accountable by responding to incidents, meeting with students, and pursuing appropriate administrative and judicial action 2. Clearly communicate University Housing policies and community expectations to staff and students, as well as serve as adjudicator for judicial cases in area 3. Serve on the on-call duty rotation for East Campus Departmental efforts 1. Maintain office hours, respond to written and oral communications, and conduct and attend meetings as required 2. Serve on University Housing, the Counseling Center, Student Health and University Recreation committees as appropriate 3. Maintain positive working relationships with campus partners 4. Teach ECD 220, HES 295, or other University credit course Administrative duties 1. Coordinate building check-in, check-out, Village room assignments and room changes 2. Assist with marketing and recruitment for the Village. 3. Work with facilities, housekeeping, and hall staff to identify facility needs and promote a safe and clean environment in hall 4. Monitor programming, hall council and Village budgets 5.
