The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) is the nonprofit support partner of the Golden Gate National Parks—84,000 acres of national parkland throughout the Bay Area, including Muir Woods, Ocean Beach, Crissy Field, and Alcatraz. The Parks Conservancy is a membership organization created to preserve the Golden Gate National Parks, enhance the experiences of park visitors, and build a community dedicated to conserving the parks for the future. Position Overview Our Sales Associates actively work within the innovative retail division to support our site’s goals and the projects in the surrounding area. This is a unique opportunity to work at the Golden Gate Bridge - the most photographed bridge in the world! Application Due: August 22, 2015 Department: Sales and Interpretive Media Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Candidates must have experience in cash handling and be able to operate a POS system. Candidates must have retail work experience. Candidates must enjoy working in a high volume store. Candidates must excel at working in a diverse, team environment, and comfortably interact with visitors from across all over the world. Candidates must be able to take direction from the management team and be adaptable to changing situations and priorities. Must be responsible for personal punctuality and attendance. Bilingual a plus. Knowledge of local history, transportation, and tourist attractions a plus. All candidates must be willing to work a very flexible schedule that includes working between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm, all weekends, and all major holidays. All candidates must be available now through October 31st, 2015. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Work is primarily performed standing or walking. Work requires squatting and kneeling. Work is performed in Retail, Visitor Center and Warehouse settings. Frequently lifts, carries, and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees of the Parks Conservancy are expected to wear a uniform and adhere to professional appearance standards. Responsibilities Key Duties and Responsibilities Customer service: Provides exceptional retail services and sells interpretive merchandise to a high volume of visitors through education and engagement. Teamwork: Pitches in and contributes to achieving group goals; supports everyone's efforts to succeed. Assists management team with daily operations including but not limited to: counting tills opening/closing procedures physical inventory preparation & execution maintains store appearance through recovery and replenishment basic housekeeping (dusting, sweeping, trash removal, etc.) creative problem solving Interpersonal Skills: Treats others with respect; remains professional in all situations. Keeps personal issues off the floor. Communication: Speaks clearly and effectively, and is thoughtful in their approach. Attendance/Punctuality: is consistently on time and present for assigned shifts Other duties as assigned by manager.
