Tree Surgeon's Assistant Responsible for performing work required in maintenance of campus trees. Involves use of a chainsaw and some heavy equipment such as a wood chipper. Performs precisely defined tasks involving relatively few choices. Involves Strenuous Physical Activity. 1. Moves heavy tree limbs and cuts them up with a chain saw or runs them through a chipper. 2. Performs minor maintenance on chain saws, hand tools, and related equipment. 3. Identifies trees and shrubs requiring care. 4. Maintains records on tree maintenance activities and equipment usage. 5. Uses established safety practices to protect health and safety of personnel and property. 6. Performs related duties as assigned. Department Preferences 12 months tree maintenance experience.
