$12 an hour University of Idaho Steam Plant Worker Location: Moscow Division/College: Facilities Management Employee Category: Temporary Pay Range: $12.00 per hour Full/Part Time: Part Time Position Summary: Under the general supervision of steam plant supervisor and steam plant operators the steam plant worker is responsible for assisting in the operation, cleanup and light maintenance, of boilers, compressors, wood handling systems, ash handling systems, and associated mechanical and electrical equipment in the power plant on campus. Minimum Qualifications: Due to the duties of this position, successful candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to work any shift to include holidays and weekends: Day Shift: 7:00 am-3:00 pm Swing Shift: 3:00pm -11:00 pm Grave Yard Shift: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am Must be able to be contacted by phone and respond within a reasonable period of time outside of normally assigned hours; and to work extended hours due to emergencies or as needed and assigned. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with boiler systems, steam plant operations, and the maintenance and repair of associated mechanical equipment. Experience with any type of chemical water testing. Experience responding safely, calmly and appropriately to emergency situations. General knowledge of standard computer operations. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s driver’s license and must be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
