General Purpose of the Position: The VD&C BIM Specialist is responsible to prepare and/or improve accurate 3D models to be used from Pre-design to Pre-construction and construction phase. The VDC BIM Modeler will work as a member of the VD&C Department Models will be also generated from conceptual sketches or narratives. The VDC Modeler will be using Autodesk Revit Architecture Suite, Autodesk AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, BIM 360 Glue, Synchro, Innovaya, and other BIM software applications. The position reports to the Director of Virtual Design and Construction. The position will offer the candidate to grow within the company and exposure to innovative, and highly collaborative environment. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Modeling in Revit from conceptual design to detailed model, coordinate BIMs, and facilitate collaboration and communication with Owners, Architects, Engineers and Trade contractors to co-generate models for use by preconstruction team, estimating department and operations team Modeling from sketches and narratives in Revit Perform quality assurance/quality control checks on BIM models Perform clash detection in a proactive manner to ensure documents and Revit Models are coordinated Design, develop and enforce modeling protocol and standards with VDC Director Develop and improve object types and data information from 3D models for quantity survey Model clean- up and detailing to reflect as-built conditions for construction purpose Coordinate model with design team and subcontractor Model constructability issues and solution for self-performed work Integrate 3D model into 4D simulation of the construction schedule and support project management to optimize scheduling Generate supplemental field construction documents for superintendents, project managers, foremen to improve field performance Generate coordinated virtual mock-ups with subcontractors Perform, manage and track design change and manage BIM revision log Reviewing on Navisworks coordination models and updating Revit models Assist in training with VDC Director to leverage BIM internal project team members’ skills in the use of BIM technologies Participate in coordination meetings with VDC Director and provide technical expertise to project design team members Support VDC Director in recommending the best Virtual Design /BIM practices and optimizing Revit model to Project Design team Support to set up VDC/BIM projects Required Job Skills: Ability to work efficiently with strong personal management and organizational skills Open minded and passionate seeking out new opportunities to contribute Ability to innovate and find new opportunities to push the envelope for best VDC/BIM practices Excellent verbal and communication skills Strong training and coaching skills Excellent problem solving skills to overcome quickly and effectively unforeseen challenges Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Self-motivated for continuous learning and improving technical and interpersonal skills High level of professionalism in dealing with owners and design professionals. On occasion it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of up to 50 lbs., walk over uneven or unpaved ground to reach a worksite in construction zones. This position requires exposure to a variety of construction conditions, including working on and accessing scaffold or platform work, confined spaces and exposure to outside elements. Your position requires you to enter the field; therefore it is mandatory that you wear approved Personal Protective Equipment. This position may be required to work schedules which may include shift work, such as; dayshift, swing-shift, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend shifts. This position may also require occasional travel as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands, operate a computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.
